#Chain of memories proud mode how to
I would recommend playing the game to enjoy it instead of forcing Proud mode & 100% completion without first learning HOW to fight with the new fighting style the card-based fighting introduces. KH RE:COM is definitely a grindy & less overall "fun" game to trophy hunt on the hardest difficulty.

It is definitely a solid title, and I would recommend this game to the hardcore fans of the series. Nonetheless, this game is a fantastic reboot to the original KH:COM, that was non-3D, & holds up very well even today. I did learn to appreciate how different this title was from the first game, but KH1FM will hold a special place in my heart for the series. The only downfall was the limitations the fighting presented. The graphics, UI, & overall "feel" of the game was an improvement onto playing the first game (even remastered). The characters, new & reoccurring, were fantastic as always. The story was still interesting, but I seemed to spent too much time "in between" the story, doing other tasks to progress my 100% completion of the game, to stay super interested (in the story) until later on. That being said, KH1FM (Final Mix) & KH RE:COM (Chain of Memories) are very different in their gameplay, set-up, & delivery. I just wish they added more for the individual worlds.Ĥ3h 54m PlayedComparatively to the first game, Kingdom Hearts 1 has a much more compelling story with much more enjoyable gameplay. The story was underwhelming and much much shorter but an interesting little side-story for Riku in the end. Difficulty-wise it was much easier in general with some spikes for certain bosses. Gameplay was different, much easier with less choices which made it feel a little more button-mashey. Playing the game left me wanting more and I dove straight in to Riku's story. Music is fantastic, as expected from a KH game. But the game was originally for the GBA so I can forgive a lot of that. Visually the game was pretty boring and I thought the creators made some poor choices during cutscenes of when to use a characters basic or detailed model.
#Chain of memories proud mode series
I was very emotionally invested in the story and I think finally playing this entry to the KH series gave me a better understanding of some story beats in KH3. I ended the game really liking Naminé and feeling bad for her. As for the story, I actually enjoyed it more than I thought. The beginning of the game can be quite frustrating mostly due to that. I think that's due to it becoming more fun as I understood it better but also having a greater amount of cards and Sleights to build a deck with. If the whole game were just Riku mode, it would be a 3 star game for me, maybe close to 4 just because it doesn't overstay its welcome.ģ4h 56m PlayedI had a hard time at the beginning of the game getting in to the battle system, but by the end of it I was having a lot of fun. Why heart? Why not spirit or something? Update: Did Riku mode 2 since I heard it was short.

Every time a character says something about others' hearts, I die a little inside. The whole game is about memories, which obviously come from the hearts. If you've played that game, and there's no reason you wouldn't have it you're playing this, then there's nothing exciting for you graphically. The graphics are extremely disappointing because 99% of the graphical assets are lifted straight from KH1. Only 2 really required me to play differently, and I didn't even need to change my deck for them. For the second half, even against bosses, I was just mindlessly mashing triangle. I had basically a deck that set me up for the rest of the game by around the 6th world, or about half the game. And your decks are ordered by you with zero randomness, so once you set up your decks with broken Sleights, you handily win almost every single fight by doing nothing but mashing a single button. But most fights are short enough that this does not actually matter. You can make Sleights, which is just combining 3 cards together to make a special attack, but it hurts you in very long fights because you lose the first card in the combo. If you try to attack with a smaller number, you waste your cards. If you attack with a bigger number or 0, you interrupt the opponent attack. Both got and your opponents attack with cards.

And that is the exact moment that the gameplay goes from being hard and limited to open ended and laughably easy. Then after about 2-3 levels, you finally get enough cards and abilities to do combos. Feels hard and it feels like your options are limited (because they are). It starts out way too hard with it just being a game of numbers - bigger number wins. 16h 10m PlayedThe gameplay is really bad.
